Openshaw Community Church (OCC) was launched in 2000 when a team of people moved into East Manchester to make it our home, to get to know our neighbours, to establish a youth and community project and to plant a new church.

Part of the Salvation Army, OCC includes lively worship, solid teaching and a passion to see change for the good in our community and beyond.

We have a local focus but also seek a wider impact as we aim to help tackle broader issues, and to release people to bring positive change in other places.

At the heart of who we are - and what we do - as a church is Jesus Christ: His life, death, and resurrection, and the hope which He brings to the lives of anyone who will trust Him: the hope of Heaven and Someone to live for in the meantime.

About The Salvation Army Eden Project

Beginning with a partnership between The Salvation Army and The Message Trust, and launched in August 2000, a group of volunteers moved into an estate in Openshaw and began getting to know the area and people living in it. We quickly found a need to work with young people, and over time developed our work to include many of their younger siblings and parents. Today, we have weekly Toddler sessions, a Youth Club, Kids Club, mentoring, advocacy for vulnerable adults, schools work, and lots more.

For more information on our programme activities, volunteering or supporting us, please email us at admin@edenopenshaw.co.uk or telephone us on 0161 371 5044, or go to our external project website.

When do we meet as church?

We meet together for church on Sundays, 11:00am at the Salvation Army Hall (with one or two exceptions so please ring ahead if you want to check), and also in smaller groups in people's homes, usually on Tuesday evenings.

We meet together for many other reasons, including Girls Get Fit (18+), Men's Breakfasts etc, so call us on 0161 371 5044 for more information.
