Electralyte’s
new album ‘Breakout’ is out
and are due to gig at ROOTS in three weeks
time! It’s been produced by ALOVE
Records in partnership with ICC/Elevation.
ALOVE interviewed Dan Boreham, the A&R
Manager at ICC, who’s been involved
with the shaping of Breakout, to get the
low down on the album ...
So Dan, what's
your role at ICC?
My role is A&R manager at ICC records.
Basically I look after and over see artists.
I help manage through the process of getting
an artist from conception stage, through
to making an album. I also follow up afterwards
with support and try to grow the artists.
What's your background in music involved
so far?
My background is pretty varied, but basically
from the age of 18 I started to do pro guitar
sessions in the Christian and mainstream.
I have worked and recorded for many artists/lead
worshippers including Matt Redman, Tim Hughes,
Graham Kendrick, Martin layzell and Chris
Tomlin and have done sessions for the BBC,
Channel 4 and Channel 5. I spent five years
in a band who were signed to a Christian
label and have been involved in song writing
for many years. ,I also worked for three
years at Furious Records (Delirious’
label) doing the sales & marketing.
How have you been involved in the production
of Electralyte's new album?
Basically that was down to Trevor Michael
- a very experienced producer - along with
the Electralyte guys. I came in to give
my two pence worth and give a labels point
of view on the overall feel and sound of
the album.
What were some of the highlights for you
in seeing this album come together?
I don’t know if there were any specifics.
I think its always great to see artists
come through a process and then finally
get to the prize at the end; something they
have worked and slaved over, spending years
getting to a point and then having an outpouring
of all their creativity. This was the case
with Electralyte guys. They are so talented
and to see that come together in one place
and time was fantastic.
How would you
describe the sound and style of Electralyte?
Unique/ raw/ exciting/ melodic - pop/rock
What's your favourite track on the album
and why?
Oh no that’s tough…It does keep
changing, but at the moment I have two.
‘Bookclub’, because it rocks
and ‘Take Broken Me’ because
it helped me in a difficult period in my
life.
What are ICC's hopes for this album?
To challenge, excite, move and to go as
far as possible!!
