The esteemed Salvation Army New York Staff Band will arrive in Belfast this month for a week long visit to Ireland.  Regarded as one of the most technical and professional Salvation Army bands in the world, audiences can look forward to a diverse programme of brass and vocal musical ministry including classical, jazz, much loved gospel hymns, Salvation Army favourites, and much more!

The Band will play at three concert venues during their tour:

Dublin on Tuesday 31st May at The Round Room, with special guests An Garda Síochána Male Voice Choir at 8:00pm (tickets €15) and

Londonderry/Derry on Wednesday 1st June at The Guildhall, 7:30pm with special guests City of Derry Youth Choir (tickets priced £8).

The New York Staff Band, now under the leadership of Bandmaster Ronald Waiksnoris, has toured extensively throughout the world, performing in many prestigious venues alongside performers such as the New York Philharmonic, Sir Elton John, Joseph Alessi and Harvey Phillips. The band features in over 60 musical and favourite well know pieces include lively Army marches to Mozart, well loved hymns such as Amazing Grace and pop classics like Frank Sinatra's ‘New York New York' and The Beetles ‘All You Need is Love'. The band has premiered works penned by renowned composers such as Eric Ball, Erik Leidzen, James Curnow, Emil Soderstrom, Peter Graham and Ray Steadman-Allen. The New York Staff Band is very much part of local communities and regularly shares their music with local churches, community centres and prisons.   

Garda ChoirThe Garda Male Voice Choir have also toured internationally delivering a repertoire, which crosses a broad spectrum of music including Yeats, Moore, Wagner and Verdi, to sacred music, traditional songs and well known show and opera numbers. The choir also sang at Ground Zero, Manhattan, on the first anniversary of the 9/11 atrocity where The Salvation Army had been one of the first relief agencies to attend the devastating scene and offer practical, emotional and spiritual support.

City of Derry Youth Choir has a strong national and international reputationCity of Derry Youth Choir for excellence and have given many performances in Ireland, Europe and America. The choir participates in major choral concerts, and performs regularly at a wide range of charity and civic events. Membership provides a wonderful opportunity for those interested in singing to become involved in choral training and performance from an early age.  Young people also enjoy an atmosphere of social inclusion and tolerance, and the opportunity to perform in a variety of denominational and cultural settings.

The visit of The New York Staff Band to Ireland precedes the largest gathering of Salvation Army Staff bands in London at an International Brass Weekend celebrating the 120th anniversary of the London based  International Staff Band of The Salvation Army. The New York Staff Band will join staff bands from Amsterdam, Canada, Chicago, Germany, Japan and Melbourne at The Royal Albert Hall in London for an unforgettable musical experience which is already sold out.
