A tribute to Allan Wallington

AW TributeOn Saturday 15th May 2010, the Staple Hill Senior Band were supporting the 70th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion in Staple Hill.

During the service, Allan Wallington, a 1st Cornet player with band, was taken seriously ill.  Sadly, Allan passed away on the following Monday - being truly "Promoted To Glory".

Allan, at only 60 years of age, is the first ever serving Bandsman to be Promoted To Glory in the bands 120 year history.

Allan was fully active in both the Band and Songsters at Staple Hill, and will be sadly missed by everyone in the Corps, and especially the band and songsters.

His funeral was held on Friday 28th May 2010, when Staple Hill hall was packed to capacity.

Through this page, we seek to remember him, and provide those who were not able to be present at the funeral with an opportunity to view some of the many tributes that have been given.  These can be downloaded by double clicking the files below.

If you would like to pass on your own tribute to the family, please do so by contacting us here and we will ensure your message is passed on.
