Welcome

This Sunday...

You are warmly invited to join us on Sundays for our services and other activities, held in our building on Lake Road. Here's what's happening this weekend (29th August 2010).

At 10am, our morning meeting will be led by Majors Ced and Lyn Hills, with music from the bands and Songsters.

At 5pm is 'At Home... With Marilyn and Doris'. Come to their home and share in chat, food and prayer.

Welcome to the website of Portsmouth Citadel, a church of The Salvation Army based in Lake Road - near the shopping centre in Portsmouth. On these pages you will find our programme of up and coming events, recent news stories, details of our podcast (recordings of our latest meetings) plus a chance to read more about our musical sections and young people's groups.

At Portsmouth Citadel, you can be sure of a warm welcome whether you are 8 or 80! We have regular Sunday meetings - if you are visiting the area, looking for somewhere to worship or even just curious as to what The Salvation Army is all about, we would be pleased to see you. There's no need to wear a uniform - in fact many in our regular congregation don't.

Details of the Sunday meetings at Portsmouth Citadel can be found on the right, with more details and those in the coming weeks on the 'calendar' page. However, you may not feel that attending a service on a Sunday is the right thing for you at this stage - so why not just come along to one of our other events? Again, you can always be sure of a friendly atmosphere.

We also have a thriving community outreach programme which runs throughout the week; the Haven Community Project is here for the local community and tries to demonstrate 'Christianity with its sleeves rolled up'. The Haven runs many projects, including a café, a charity shop, a furniture store and the 'Good Neighbours' scheme (a befriending scheme for the elderly). For more about it, please visit The Haven's section using the menu at the top of the Portsmouth Citadel pages.

Please do not feel nervous about getting in touch - we would be pleased to answer any questions you may have about Portsmouth Citadel, or The Salvation Army in general. To contact us, please visit the relevant page to get our phone number, email address, street address or a map!

Use the links in the grey bar above the word 'welcome' to find out more about various aspects of our church. Finally, thank you for taking time to visit the website of Portsmouth Citadel.
