Holy Week and Easter 2010 @ Glenrothes

We're hosting a series of events during Holy Week and Easter to celebrate what many consider to be the most important of Christian festivals.

Starting on Monday 29th March there's something on most night. Not everything will be to everyone's taste, but we're sure there will be something for most people during the course of the week.

Unless otherwise stated, all events will take place at our hall on Caskieberran Road, Glenrothes.

So what's on?

  • Monday 29th March (7pm) - Informal worship in the style of our regular Catch the Fire event. Major Graham Mizon from our area headquarters will be speaking on this occasion.
  • Tuesday 30th March (6pm and 8pm) - Our usual Tuesday and Youth Clubs will be running on this evening, but with a Holy Week/Easter theme. Tuesday Club is open to children aged 3-12, and youth club is for children at high school.
  • Wednesday 31st March (6.30pm) - An evening of worship and music with The Salvation Army's brass band and singing group.
  • Thursday 1st April (6.30pm) - Food and a film. The title of the film is still to be confirmed at this time.
  • Friday 2nd April - We will be opening our community cafe from 10.30am to 1pm, providing a space for you to socialise and relax. At the top of each hour there will be short devotional thoughts and readings. Then at 6.30pm we will be  holding Good Friday worship as we consider Jesus' sacrifice for us.
  • Saturday 3rd April - We don't have anything running at the local corps on this day, however there is the opportunity for ladies to spend a morning with The Salvation Army's 2nd-in-command, Commissioner Robyn Dunster. This takes place from 10am - 12pm at the National Christian Outreach Centre, Riggs Road, Perth. This event costs £6, which includes morning coffee, tea, and cakes.
  • Sunday 4th April - There's a lot happening on Easter Sunday, so let's break it down slightly
    • Sunrise Service - we will be meeting with other churches up Falkland Hill to bring Easter Sunday in with some worship. Time TBC.
    • Easter Breakfast - Back at The Salvation Army hall there will be a cooked breakfast (9am). Please tell us if you will be coming to this so that we can prepare enough food. Donations towards the cost of the food will be gratefully received on the day.
    • We will then be spending time in worship, led by Commissioner Dunster. This takes place at our usual time of 11am.
    • Finally we will share in a faith lunch (bring something to share) after worship.
  • Monday 5th April - TO BE CONFIRMED - Barbecue and games in Glenrothes Town Park. Please let us know if you would like to come to this so that we ensure there is enough food for everyone.

Please keep checking back for any changes or, if you attend on a Sunday, listen to the announcements so that you're always aware of the latest news.
